ACCREDITATION APPLICATION 

Members can accredit for as many categories of alternative dispute resolution as they qualify for at no extra charge and there is only one accreditation fee of R230 (R200 plus vat).

The affiliation of Mediators with NABFAM member organisation’s - and their accreditation with NABFAM , shall be valid for 12 months from the date of accreditation.

  • Court-annexed Mediators must have a minimum qualification on NQF Level 4 (matric), comply with all requirements for Court-annexed Mediators, successfully complete our 40-hour contact Mediation Training course, be found competent and be accredited by Department of Justice to be listed on this site.

 

  • Divorce and Family Mediators must comply with all requirements of the National Accreditation Board of Family Mediators (NABFAM), successfully complete our 40-hour contact Divorce and Mediation Training, successfully complete our 12-hour Psychology for Family Mediator Training if not from a social services professional background, successfully complete our 16-hour Family Law Training course if not from a legal background and be found competent to be listed on this site.

 

  • Civil and Commercial Mediators must have successfully completed a 40-hour Mediation Training course with Conflict Dynamics or Mediation in Motion and be found competent to be listed on this site.

 

  • Restorative Justice Practitioners must comply with all requirements of the South African Restorative Justice Accreditation Body (SARJAB), successfully complete our 40-hour contact Restorative Justice Training, successfully complete our 16-hour Psychology for Restorative Justice Practitioner Training course if not from a social services professional background, successfully complete our 16-hour Law for Restorative Justice Practitioner Training course if not from a legal background and be found competent to be listed on this site.

 

  • Workplace Mediators are accredited Civil & Commercial Mediators and/or Family Mediators and/or Restorative Justice Practitioners who have further qualified as Workplace Mediators through Conflict Dynamics.

 

  • Master Mediators are any of the above mentioned categories who have a proven track record over a period of at least 7 years as a mediator, Restorative Justice or ADR Practitioner or specialist practitioners with a proven track record of at least 3 years of expertise in any particular field of ADR.

Social Justice Association of Mediators is a Non-profit Organisation with its head quarters in Cape Town, incorporated in terms of the laws of the Republic of SA.  It renders a variety of services to members of the public and government departments.  It functions with various cost centres, including the membership organisation structure with a subcommittee as its board for the benefit of its members.  The organisation is managed by its Board of Executive members and co-opted members.
